The first source is here, below, established by Quiet Princeton. The other is a list at Sustainable Princeton:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sustainableprinceton.org\/yard\/sustainable-landscapers-resource-list\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Sustainable Landscapers Resource List&#8221;.<\/a> We recommend you investigate <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">both<\/span> of these resources when choosing a landscaper who will provide better services for you. Here, below, is Quiet Princeton&#8217;s list of Quiet Landscapers:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b>The landscapers listed below perform lawn maintenance in the Princeton NJ area. They have agreed to do it without using gas-powered leaf blowers (either without any leaf blowers at all or using only electric-powered leaf blowers), if you tell them what you want. We advise <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 600;\">using<\/span><b>\u00a0even electric blowers only sparingly, if at all.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<strong> Landscaping but no Mowing<\/strong>. There is also a landscaper listed below who uses entirely solar-powered electric, plus hand tools. They <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">don&#8217;t<\/span> do lawn mowing, but offer many other services.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another resource for you is by Sustainable Princeton, who go beyond quiet to other sustainable practices. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Please let Quiet Princeton know if you contract with one of these landscapers, or if you find one is no longer participating in Quiet Landscaping efforts:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:QuietPrinceton@verizon.net\">QuietPrinceton@verizon.net<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Please Note<\/strong>: When you employ a landscape contractor, you will need to have a discussion with your current or new landscaper about the treatment of leaves and grass clippings. This is key to your mutual satisfaction, to cost, and to the environment. \u00a0Alternatives include:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u2014leaving grass clippings in place (best; returns nutrition to the soil)<br \/>\u2014using a mulching mower for leaves on the lawns<br \/>\u2014blowing leaves into beds, using a mower&#8217;s side discharge<br \/>\u2014raking leaves into beds or into a corner of your yard<br \/>\u2014raking only in limited, selected places<br \/>\u2014raking of most areas previously cleared with leaf blowers (This option may cost more because raking can take more time.)<br \/>\u2014\u201cScorched earth\u201d removal of everything, as is often done with leaf blowers. This is actually bad for the topsoil, birds, and garden life, and removes desirable mulch. It is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not<\/span> recommended and should be avoided.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>The necessary fine print:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><small>Quiet Princeton provides this information for the benefit of homeowners. Quiet Princeton has discussed this program with the listed landscapers and they have agreed to participate.
